Invitation to UASnet Conference 2014: Tackling the Societal Challenges of Horizon 2020

The Universities of Applied Sciences Network (UASnet) hereby has the honor to invite European researchers, policymakers and stakeholders to this year’s UASnet conference, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 23rd and 24th of October 2014. The conference focuses on applied research in the field of social and health related issues.

Mr. Bror Salmelin from the European Commission will welcome you with a keynote speech on Open Innovation, and the Danish Minster for Education and Research, Mrs. Sofie Carsten Nielsen will give a welcome speech on video. Further, Mr. Paul Killeen (Head of Research, Innovation and Enterprise at Athlone Institute of Technology) will provide a keynote speech on the development of Universities of Applied Sciences as strategic gateways for developing innovation in SMEs across the regions.

Moreover, Ms. Agi Csonka, who is the Managing Director at the Danish National Centre for Social Research will provide an exciting keynote speech, and Mr. Frank Ziegele from the CHE (Centre for Higher Education) will organise an interactive workshop on this years' launched initiative "U-Multirank"; a multidimensional, user-driven approach to international ranking of higher education institutions based on empirical data.

High-profile European speakers and researchers will provide innovative presentations and inclusive workshops to guarantee you a challenging, thought-provoking and ambitious programme. The parallel sessions will revolve around a carefully selected set of the Societal Challenges as set out in Horizon 2020, the focus will be on social and health related issues:

  • Health, demographic change and well-being;
  • Europe in a changing world – inclusive, innovative and reflective societies; 
  • UAS in a changing higher education landscape // U-Multirank, how do UAS relate to society.

For you as participants the conference will offer and form the basis of:

  • Exchange of best practices and knowledge accumulation on the selected topics
  • Fostering new research proposals;
  • Building up new consortia.

The participant fee for the full 1 ½ day program is 200 Euros which includes full catering and conference participation.

The deadline for registration and payment is the 15th of September 2014 at noon after which your registration is binding. Be aware that only a limited number of vacancies for the conference is available, so register as soon as possible if you want to secure your participation.
